EXAMPLE PROJECTS

Jonathan Nalder    People . Tech . Learning

The projects below are a sample of the kinds of education and training projects to help you imagine what our work together might achieve.

All of these projects are a mix of: WORKSHOPS, PROJECTS, VIDEO CONTENT, COMMUNITIES, AND COURSES

FUTUREWE

Community Project . Future Skills Framework

This project was ran from 2017 to 2021 as a community off 600+ global experts who came together to map out skill solutions for students and the future-ready workforce. It's aim was to learn together how everyone can have the skills to adapt and be ready for a fully digital, automated future.

The result of these efforts was a master framework of all the best, most recommended skills, and this was refined into a framework and then a self-assessment tool. All these resources are still available for download and use.

FIRST ON MARS

Workshops . Online Courses

This project was created to solve the problem of 'how do we deliver curriculum in a way that all participants will actually want to engage with?'

It takes any topic, eg. STEM, Social Studies, careers, sustainability, government - you name it - and creates the fun, interactive experience that

1. Deepens knowledge, 2. builds collaboration, and 3. produces shareable and assessable solutions.

SCENARIOS SO FAR: First School on Mars (Teacher PD), First Kids on Mars (STEM, design and Careers), First Dairy on Mars (government regulators), First Sport on Mars, First radishes on Mars.

DEMYSTIFING AI

Explainer Sessions . Hands-on activities

This series of six workshops was provided free for Seniors in a series of Library branches across Brisbane, with the aim of introducing the topic of generative AI tools to an audience who might be intimidated by them.

The sessions were co-designed with the Libraries as a mix of explainer talks and hands-on, guided activities.

Participants went from curious about or even fearful of such technology, to having found ways they can use it to enhance their lives.

CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECTS

Customised Solution . Local and online

Citizen Science is a way to involve a whole organisation, school or community in working together towards a common solution. First you decide on an environmental or social issue that most affects you, then work with Jonathan to setup the project so participants can contribute local data and observations.

People can use the web or app to easily add their input, then access an interactive dashboard to keep track of progress. The project also involves an analysis stage where teams get together to design updated strategies and solutions based on everyone's work.

An example is the Xtreme Frontiers junior Astrobiology project launching soon with Dr Michaela Musilova (link coming soon).

LoFi AirSpace

Video Series . Social Media Collaboration

This new project has launched as a mindfull,  'third' space to exist between travel lovers, airspace professionals, and our need to relax.

Phase 1 is designed to answer the question 'do you love air travel, but need a hit right now?' The answer to this encompasses long and short form videos featuring views filmed out of airplane windows set to relaxing soundtracks. The first four weeks after launch saw 40,000+ views and 1300+ subscribers enjoying the vibes.

Phase 2 will add add additional playlists for Space and Mars videos.

Phase 3 will bring in collaborators and feature interviews with Airspace professionals.

STEAM Learning project

Edtech Project . Video Series

This project collaboration with iWorld Australia saw over 15 Education and Technology companies donate $20k worth of tools for teachers to borrow and try out for free. Tools included were Circuit Scribe, Strawbees, Merge Cubes, KANO, Roobobloq, and Curiscope.
Teachers were able to select an available tool and test it out in their classroom for 3 months to improve their own skills but also evaluate what works best for their student before spending their school's budget.

  • A series of Youtube videos was also created to support this process and can be viewed in a playlist here.
